FIRST ARTISTS CONFIRMED FOR THE ¨OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS¨: PIERO SPOGGI

Piero Spoggi presents in ISLA Transimbiosisan ephemeral installation made with white willow branches and stones.

From the daily observation of the dry walls, sometimes lined with noble trees that surround Bustarviejo (Sierra de Madrid), the village where he lives and works, Piero finds the inspiration for this work.

What is the relationship between drywalls and trees? It is the border between wild nature and the educated hand of man. The connection between the masterfully placed stones and the trees that grow in total freedom results in the creation of spectacular landscapes, of precarious balances.

For this reason Transimbiosis refers, on the one hand, to the meaning of the term “symbiosis” and, on the other hand, the prefix “trans” emphasizes this association that goes beyond living species to become, ultimately, what I call “artistic mutualism”.

The installation represents, mainly, the fragile harmony between the branches (nature) and the stone resting on them ( human work). Through the installation of pieces in different sizes, shapes and heights, we can enjoy the silence and interact with them: entering, leaving, or simply observing, in order to experience our own experience in a natural landscape shaped by humans.
